Taos Observations (pg 4.)

How can you not love a town of 4950 people where the Tattoo parlor is open at 7am (a full hour before the liquor store opens). I know personally that nothing is lovin’ like a pint of Jack Daniels in the oven before driving to work and now I also know that I can get one of them tattoos from some random tribe that I don’t know what it means (that seems to be common these days).  Yes, this is a fun small town America and the sad part is that I fear that we are not too different in some ways from the other Mayberry’s’ in this country.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Taos... so much that I moved here with no obvious reason. It seems that northern New Mexico has been what could be called criminal friendly. They loved to protect the train and bank robbers of the 19th century and it’s still filled with people who work at staying off the grid and out the camera lens.

I just realized we have a restaurant called Mary Jane’s and we have a well visited store called 420 (Google 420 + marijuana if you don’t know what that means).  I believe I read somewhere that getting caught with less than 2 oz’s of weed is considered just personal use.
